Brandon Schmidt founded b23 Management, LLC in 2003 and currently manages the careers of Nightmare of You and Blacklist. His previous clients include Interpol, DJ Carlos D., and Elefant.

Brandon got his start in music as a classical oboist before crossing over to the business side of popular music. While attending Oberlin College he ran the student concert board responsible for promoting concerts on campus. During this time he booked and promoted concerts by the Pixies, A Tribe Called Quest, Robyn Hitchcock, Fishbone, Firehose, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Phish, and many others. After graduating, Brandon managed Repo Records in Philadelphia and played guitar/bass in several local bands.

In 1996 Brandon moved to New York to pursue a job in the music industry. For the next six and a half years he worked at MTV Networks in the online music department. During that time he was responsible for running the music programming department of MTV.com and he reported to the SVP of Music Programming. In early 2001 while still working at MTV, Brandon discovered and began managing Interpol and ultimately left his position as Director of Music Programming to launch B23 Management and pursue artist management full time.

Apart from management Brandon has also freelanced as an A&R scout for Epic and RCA. He has participated as a panelist at SXSW and as part of the Indie Night School series in NYC.
