Patrick MoxeyPatrick Moxey went to the University of Chicago, where he was on the Activities Board bringing artists including Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and others to the campus. Moxey then became a music journalist writing for NME, Details and other publications regarding music.

Moxey moved to New York City in 1987 and started throwing successful warehouse parties including Milky Way, $100,000 Bar and Payday. These clubs featured the first performances of Rob Base, De la Soul, and others.

Moxey then worked for Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen at Rush Management in 1988-89. He then started Payday Records with Polygram where he signed Jay Z, Show and AG, Group Home and others to the label.

Moxey then went on in 1996 to be Sr. VP of A&R at Virgin Records where he signed NERD, Beenie Man, Dwele, Kelis, and others. Also since 1995 Moxey had been incubating Ultra Records. In 2001 Moxey left Virgin to focus full time on Ultra.

Ultra Records was created by Patrick Moxey in 1995. Its leading roster of DJs and artists include some of the most renowned electronic acts and producers in the world, including artist albums and/or DJ mix albums from: Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Jamiroquai, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Armand van Helden, Kaskade, Roger Sanchez, Timo Maas, Tommie Sunshine as well as US legends David Morales, Danny Tenaglia, George Acosta & Motorcycle. Other Ultra artists include Dannii Minogue, Lucas Prata, Kim Sozzi, Ozone and Benny Benassi.
