Richard GottehrerRichard, who co-founded The Orchard in 1997, is a legendary songwriter ("My Boyfriend's Back," "I Want Candy," "Sorrow," "Nightime"), multi-platinum producer (Blondie, The Go-Go's, The Raveonettes, Joan Armatrading) and music industry executive. His songs have been recorded by David Bowie, George Thorogood, Aaron Carter, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others. Richard co-founded Sire Records (later sold to the Time Warner Corporation) which quickly became one of the industry's leading independent record companies. Its roster included Madonna, the Talking Heads, the Ramones, the Pretenders and Depeche Mode. Drawing on his wide range of experience and broad overview of the music industry, Richard has been instrumental in developing and shaping the way music is distributed and sold throughout the world.
Richard currently heads Orchard Music Services, the licensing unit of The Orchard. Orchard Music Services offers flexible and efficient ways for creative directors, music supervisors, and producers to license independent music. The Orchard is active in the sonic branding space, as well as in the areas of film, TV and interactive licensing.
